Matthew Jewell was an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire when we recorded this episode. He is now Chair of the Materials Science and Biomedical Engineering Department there. His group studies the mechanical properties of superconducting materials for large magnets: YBCO tapes and Bi-2212 and Nb3Sn round wires.
