The Curious Case of Melting at the Nanoscale with Laia Delgado Callico
About the guest
Laia Delgado Callico is a PhD student in the Physics Department at King’s College London, UK, where she studies how the shape and size of metallic nanoparticles affect their physical and chemical properties. Her first first-author paper, “A universal signature in the melting of metallic nanoparticles”, introduced a new method to identify exactly when a nanoparticle melts. She studied Chemistry in Barcelona, did a nine-month research stay at Imperial College London on an Erasmus grant, and completed a master’s in Molecular Biophysics at King’s College London.
Laia Delgado Callico curated the Real Scientists Nano Twitter account (@RealSci_Nano) from March 1 to March 7 2021. Read all of Laia’s tweets from that week.
