Strange World of Quantum Materials with Otto Mustonen

About the guest

Otto Mustonen is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sheffield, UK, researching quantum spin liquids, materials whose tiny magnets behave like a liquid even at absolute zero and could be used in a new type of quantum computer. He discovered the first candidate material for a quantum spin liquid state predicted 30 years ago by Nobel laureate Philip Anderson. He did his PhD in inorganic materials chemistry at Aalto University, Finland.

Otto Mustonen curated the Real Scientists Nano Twitter account (@RealSci_Nano) from February 8 to February 14 2021. Read all of Otto’s tweets from that week.
