Clara M. Barker is the Lab Manager for the CfAS Materials department at Oxford University and Dean of Equality and Diversity at Linacre College, UK. A thin film materials scientist, she makes films often less than a micrometre thick for superconductors, solar cells, solid-state batteries and optical coatings, and once coated spinal implants to improve their biocompatibility. She trained in electronic and electrical engineering and worked in industry before moving into materials research.
