Graphene Smoothie ft. Matthew Diasio

About the guest

Matthew Diasio is a PhD Candidate at the University of Virginia, USA, making graphene by mixing graphite at high speed in liquids and studying how the liquid’s properties affect the amount and quality of graphene produced. The work showed that thicker, syrup-like liquids make more graphene by applying more stress. An interest in astronomy turned to materials research after a chemistry seminar, lab work and two internships on carbon nanotubes.

Matthew Diasio curated the Real Scientists Nano Twitter account (@RealSci_Nano) from November 18 to November 23 2019. Read all of Matthew’s tweets from that week.
