Family Tree of Carbon with Irene Suarez-Martinez
About the guest
Irene Suarez-Martinez is a Senior Lecturer at Curtin University, Australia, a materials scientist specialising in carbon, from graphite and diamond to carbon nanoforms and amorphous carbon, mainly through atomistic modelling. A highlight is her “family tree of carbon”, which relates all carbon nanostructures to graphene, like a periodic table of carbon. Her PhD on graphite was funded by the nuclear industry.
Irene Suarez-Martinez curated the Real Scientists Nano Twitter account (@RealSci_Nano) from August 10 to August 16 2020. Read all of Irene’s tweets from that week.
