Personal Branding for Scientists in the Age of AI
2-Hour Interactive Workshop, delivered in person at DTU (Technical University of Denmark) for Krist Gernaey and Elham’s research group, alongside a Novo Nordisk Foundation project kick-off.
Building a confident online presence is essential for early and mid-career researchers, but many struggle with where to start and how to stand out without feeling like they’re “selling themselves.” This hands-on workshop guided participants through creating an authentic personal brand that opens doors to collaborations, speaking opportunities, and career advancement — whether they stay in academia or transition elsewhere.
Participants also explored how to leverage AI tools to streamline content creation and maintain a consistent digital presence without adding hours to their workload.
What participants walked away with:
- Clear Career Goals Framework — a structured, actionable method to define where they want their career to go and how their personal brand should strategically align with that direction.
- Personal Brand Statement — a crisp, compelling statement articulating who they are, what they work on, and why it matters — a ready-to-use foundation for online profiles, applications, and professional conversations.
- Platform Selection Strategy — a simple decision framework to identify where their audience actually is and how to position themselves on LinkedIn, academic platforms, or a personal website.
- AI Integration Toolkit — practical, ready-to-use prompts and workflows to draft posts, refine messaging, research topics, and maintain a consistent digital presence while keeping an authentic voice.
- 48-Hour Action Plan — a realistic, immediately implementable plan to build momentum right after the workshop.
