Path of least resistance - LinkedIn or Website?
LinkedIn for reach, website for record.
“I want to communicate my research, what is a better option - group website or LinkedIn?”
90% of my clients ask me this question in my personal branding workshops and 1:1 consultations.
My answer: it depends on your career stage.
I understand where this question is coming from.
I know you are already juggling 10 different things at the same time - supervising students, manuscripts, running your lab, filing reimbursement for a conference you attended 3 months ago.
You are looking for the most effective option.
You are hoping for that ONE thing which will get you the visibility by following the path of least resistance.
And this is exactly why I added “Platform selection” module in my workshop Personal Branding for Scientists in the age of AI.

To answer your question, LinkedIn or group website, think about it this way👇
LinkedIn = Visibility.
Website = Track record.
For early career researchers - PhDs, postdocs, group leaders with team of 2 scientists - LinkedIn should be your priority 1.
For mid career researchers - group leaders with more than 2 scientists - Group website should be your priority 1.
