Hellooo!

The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship results reopened research funding debate.

17,066 proposals submitted. 1,610 funded. 9.6% success rate.

Scientists shared their opinions on LinkedIn and engaged in intense discussions. Some shared concerns over the alarmingly low success rate. Others said stop complaining & move on.

I calculated the economic impact of the “invisible & unpaid” work  scientists do in order to get funding. Full breakdown in this blogpost and on LinkedIn (49 comments, 196 reactions). The comments are spicy so brace yourself.

This isn’t a criticism of MSCA. But the structural challenge is real. While the system evolves, the strongest move is making your next application as strategic and efficient as possible — starting well before you write a single word. My GenAI for Proposal Writing workshop walks through exactly how.

What do you think about the current research funding process?

Cheers,
Pranoti
