We’re trying something new. Promotional image for the podcast ‘Under the Microscope’ featuring host Pranoti Kshirsagar and guest Emanuele Pelucchi. The episode focuses on ‘Quantum Dots in Nanopyramids.’ Both Pranoti and Emanuele are pictured, with the podcast logo ‘The Science Talk’ visible in the top right corner. Under the Microscope, brought to you by artificial intelligence.

Listen Here!

I love hosting Under the Microscope because it gives me the opportunity to talk to some of the smartest, most innovative scientists in the field of quantum physics. We have in-depth conversations about their research, and I get to learn the stories behind their lab discoveries.

But I also want to try new ways to bring these important conversations about quantum physics to the wider world. This is where artificial intelligence comes in.

Right now, we’re experimenting with Google’s NotebookLM to bring our listeners mini podcast episodes. This A.I. tool crafts the script and the voices in these 10- to 15-minute episodes, taking the complex conversations we feature on Under the Microscope and breaking them down into bite-sized summaries. You can use these A.I.-generated podcasts as a useful guide to the full-length shows, or as a recap or refresher of the episode.

We most recently tested this A.I. tool with Episode 225, with special guest Dr. Emanuele Pelucchi, who presented his research on site-controlled quantum dots. You can find this and other A.I.-generated episodes on the Under the Microscope Spotify feed, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening!

Cheers,
