The short version
This site uses two Google Analytics cookies to count how pages are read. They carry a random identifier, never your name or email, and the data is only used in aggregate. You can turn analytics off at any time — use the button further down this page. Advertising and cross-site tracking cookies are never used.
Analytics cookies
Analytics runs by default. If you turn it off, these cookies are deleted and no further analytics data is collected from your device.

These allow Google Analytics 4 to produce aggregated statistics on which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and which content is worth writing more of. Section 3 of the Privacy Policy sets out the legal basis, the transfer to the USA, and retention periods.
Your preference
Your on/off choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under the key pk_consent — the value granted or denied and a timestamp, nothing else. It is never sent to a server and holds no identifier, and is kept for 12 months.
Changing your choice
You can turn analytics on or off at any time, with effect for the future:
Turning analytics off takes effect immediately and deletes the analytics cookies. It does not affect data already collected before that point.
Deleting cookies in your browser
You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings:

- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data

Independently of the setting above, Google offers a browser add-on that prevents Google Analytics from collecting data on any site: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Fonts
This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. This sets no cookies, but does transmit your IP address to Google. See section 4 of the Privacy Policy.
